Today's Politics and Social Media=Why I Love Sports

I have always enjoyed politics. I follow what is going on in the economy and politics is a large part of the global economy. Recently, my desire to stay abreast of what is going on has diminished. There is so much over the top emotion and partisanship in basic conversation about who was elected and what they are going to do or not do.

I have always thought the Democratic and Republican party were more similar than different from each other with the biggest difference in how $ is to be spent with both parties spending more than they should.

In 2016, politics appears to be less about the analytics and all about personal attacks. Fear based attacks directed at anyone who happens to disagree with whoever happens to be speaking or writing one more whacko post on Facebook.

If this is the new era in politics, I would prefer to go back to the age where politics and religion were two things friends and family did not talk about. It saddens me that Americans have replaced debate with hate and a US against THEM mentality. We see how these types of divisions don't work in nations around the World, but still we walk down the road of slinging insults and hatred.

Thank goodness for all sports and my favorite MLB. Fans may be fanatical, but the I hate the Dodgers talk by Giants fans is just that, talk. The Dodgers suck talk is followed by gee, I sure wish Kershaw was a Giants pitcher.

The Electorial College votes tomorrow. No reasonable person expects the electorial to do anything different from what they have done in the past, confirm the next president who won the electorial vote in November. This won't diminish the crazy talk and hate directed by many in social media.

As a person who studied politics and economics and have followed it all closely since being in my twenties to being retired today, I am more thankful than ever the baseball season never ends. Winter meetings have ended and it won't be long before Spring Training begins. The love of baseball will make it easy to ignore all those who choose to hate.
