Waiting on the San Francisco Giants

I keep checking baseball news to see if the San Francisco Giants are in the process of acquiring a new outfielder. There are still some good possibilities out there. Yoenis Cespedes, Carlos Gonzalez, Alex Gordon and Justin Upton are available and waiting for their big pay days.

These players can change a games outcome with one swing of the bat. The Giants need more depth in the outfield. Injuries took a toll last year and Angel Pagan is 35 years old and back injuries last year limited his play. The same for Hunter Pence who suffered his own injuries and missed quite a few games.

Will the Giants steam ahead and pay the big dollars knowing the risks and the rewards of such deals, or will they go with players in their farm system? This Giants fan thinks at least one more big bat and quality outfielder is needed to keep pace with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers. With regular sellout crowds and the excitement and superstition of it being an even year, this is the time to Go For It!

What do you think?

San Francisco Giants vs Colorado Rockies

Denver was another great place to see the San Francisco Giants play. The Colorado Rockies stadium is really nice and right downtown. There are several hotels within walking distance of  Coors Field. The Denver Art Museum is worth checking out, too. The downtown core offers lots of good places to eat and drink and the mall street offers free buses that go from one end of the popular restaurant area to the other end.

The Amtrak station is right down the street from the stadium if you want to get there in an adventurous way!

San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs

It's difficult for me to believe it's been a few years since visiting Wrigley Field. Visiting Chicago was my favorite trip thus far. Highly recommended if you get the opportunity to go. I found fans and people around the city friendly and helpful when directions were needed. I suggest staying downtown even if it means spending more for a hotel. I found the convenience of walking everywhere and getting on public transportation to Wrigley Field worth paying a little more. I did not have to rent a car and had a great time.

*The Chicago Art Museum is a must for visitors. Even if you don't normally do museums this one is very highly recommended.

Mike Leake to Cardinals

On Tuesday, Mike Leake signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. As MLB.com pointed out, this should bring stability to the Cardinals starting rotation. I was fortunate enough to watch Mike pitch in San Francisco and I wish him the best in his new journey to St. Louis where a lot of great baseball fans reside.

San Francisco Giants vs Seattle Mariners 2015

In June of 2015, I travelled to the great Pacific Northwest city of Seattle and watched the San Francisco Giants play the Seattle Mariners. It was one of those weird two game series and each team won a game.

AT&T Park and the City of San Francisco

I am biased when it comes to AT&T park. I think it is one of the best, if not the best park in the MLB. If you have a chance to visit in 2016, go for it! Check out the great food at the park. If you like bratwursts you will find some really good ones on the upper level concourse way down the concourse close to the right field side. Good IPA's on tap too. Once you leave the stadium you can easily walk the city and that includes walking to the Ferry Terminal where the Public Market resides. Even if you don't want to walk far you can stroll along the pier and check out the sailboats right in back of the stadium. Have fun!

Christmas Tree

I love baseball and photography. I kept a Wordpress blog for nearly a decade and now I have decided to try Blogger by Google.

This blog was started on December 22, 2015. I will begin with some pictures from previous baseball trips. I will add short commentary from a fans perspective as we get closer to  MLB 2016.

I am #1 a baseball fan and #2 a San Francisco Giants fan. I consider myself pretty balanced when it comes to the sport, but keep in mind I do cheer for the San Francisco Giants.

If you like photography, eating, and baseball, you may enjoy this blog.

A picture says a 1000 words. My posts will not be too wordy.

These pictures are of my dog Willie over the years. I have not blogged in several years and now I plan to return to it. We don't have an...
